Walwyn Rose offers a free consulting service to any school interested in starting or improving a garden classroom or garden activity, and has worked with schools around the country.   She is giving a series on talks at the Gardener’s World live show this year, aimed at parents, grandparents and teachers on how to get children interested in gardening.   

She offers talks to children at schools on a range of gardening subjects including:

Waste Management
Composting
Fertilization
Starting a community gardening project and greening your town.
The Gardening Year
Rainforest and habitat protection

She regularly works with her local Greening Group and the South Bedfordshire Friends of the Earth on education projects.

She also offers a workshop on Creating Fictional Characters. This workshop is suitable for children aged 8 to 14, and is of particular benefit for those children struggling with literacy, who find it difficult to get their thoughts together when confronted with a blank page.  Children whose cognitive minds work pictorially, or kinaesthetically, as opposed to those who think in words, are often stumped when asked to write fiction, because their thoughts refuse to organise themselves into coherent information.  Using single word ideas within a stream on consciousness format, the student can outline an entire story in their minds, before putting it to paper, thus making the whole process exciting instead of painful.
